Supreme Court batters Amaechi

The Supreme Court has ruled that the former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi cannot be extricated from a case of fraud involving approximately N90 billion.

The apex court ruled today that it aligned itself with the position of the Appellate Court which had held Amaechi culpable for an alleged fraudulent behavior.

The ruling is coming as associates of the Dan Amanar of Daura receives birthday wishes from associates and friends on the occasion of his 57th.

Amaechi is quoted as saying in public that he hates money, but the indictment by the Supreme Court, following a matter instituted by Amaechi against the Rivers State Government and Governor Nyesom Wike.

Amaechi had gone to court to block the outcome of a 7-man committee which indicted him, saying the entire episode was a calculated witch-hunt and attempt to ridicule him.

The ruling may have a far reaching impact on the ambition Amaechi to govern Nigeria.

One commentator, name withheld said, “Amaechi’s ambition may have suffered a severe setback. It has gone up in smoke.”

A reaction to the Supreme Court ruling by the Government of Rivers State is being awaited.
