What may result in a blossoming romance between Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, official flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies appears to be on the cards.

Atiku who met with Wike a second time in three days had a brief but memorable encounter, some sources say, with Governor Ifeanyi Igwuanyi of Enugu State on Thursday.

Governor Ifeanyi Igwuanyi and Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The Presidential candidate said on his Twitter handle, “Earlier this morning, I hosted the governor of Abia State, His Excellency Okezie Ikpeazu.

“We had good discussions about moving our party, @OfficialPDPNig, forward.

“It is reassuring that our party will contest the general election as one united family.”

Wednesday, Wike returned Atiku’s visit, a move political analysts say indicates major stumbling blocs may have been overcome.

The Presidential candidate had earlier paid him a visit on Monday just as Rivers stakeholders welcomed the Governor who ran a strong race home.

Although details of Wednesday’s meeting between both men have not been made public, we have heard it was however eventful.

Recall the Rivers Governor had vowed just before voting was to commence last Saturday that no matter what would happen in course of the convention, he will not leave the PDP.

Atiku said of his second encounter with Wike, “It was a pleasure to receive His Excellency Nyesom Wike in the company of notable leaders and officials of our great party at my residence today.

“I am proud of the promises that this spirit of camaraderie holds for our party as a united front that guarantees victory in the next election to rescue the country.”

In a related development, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal this evening visited Atiku at his residence.

Tambuwal was reportedly in Atiku’s home to review political issues within the polity.

Atiku later disclosed,”I excitedly paused my domestic activities to receive our able Gov Aminu Tambuwal when he paid me a courtesy visit.

“We discussed a wide range of issues, especially the need for our party, the @OfficialPDPNig, to stand united ahead of the 2023 elections.”
