Abe settles for Patricia, Ake

Senator Magnus Abe, gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has unveiled his running mate.
She is Patricia Ogbonnaya, a former Permanent Secretary in the Rivers State Civil Service who hails from the Orashi region.
Also today, Senator Abe announced that Senator Wilson Ake would lead the onslaught of the SDP as the Director General of the campaign organization.

Ake, a younger brother of late Chief G.U Ake, hails from Egi in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Lical Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking at the occasion, Senator Abe described his Deputy as a capable, determined and focused person who would bring exposure, expertise and experience to the table.
He said that Senator Ake, a tested war horse, would no doubt add value to the effort of the SDP to snatch the Rivers State from the PDP.
We are learning from sources within the SDP that most party supporters are happy with choices that have been made by the flagbearer.
Our inquiries reveal that although many male supporters of the party would have fancied a male running mate, female members of the party are satisfied that a woman eventually got the nod to be the running mate.
From all indications, the SDP which has a governorship candidate in the Rivers South East Senatorial District just like the PDP would be hoping to get a foothold in the Orashi region where the PDP already has a deputy governorship candidate.
Professor Ngozi Odu, a one-time member of the State Executive Council is reportedly enjoying a lot of support from the Orashi region.
