Taking what is left of Etche’s APC membership

A wave resignations have hit the Etche Local Government chapter of the APC in Rivers State.

According to information reaching our news desk, a sizeable number of party men and women are taking to the social media to announce their decision to dump the party.

In the past one week, the social media has been inundated with letters written by decampees  to ward chairmen in Etche, informing them of their decision to abandon  the APC.

Chief Nnamdi Okere, time to swing to the right as a sledgehammer hits APC.

Among those expected to lead former APC members out of the party are Chief Nnamdi Okere, a strong ally of Dakuku Peterside and a one-time Council chairman, Engineer Loveday Onwugbuta, a businessman and politician and Chief Chidi Nweke, a former State Commissioner for Agriculture.

Others are Engineer Sam Ali, Barrister Emeka Odu, a foundation chairman of the PDP,  Polycarp Agubulom a.k.a “Capacity” and Marshall Israel, immediate past Commissioner in the Public Complaints Commission.

The APC in Rivers State has been hit by an avalanche of defections of late, with former leaders of the part in the three senatorial districts dumping the party and joining ranks with the PDP led by Governor Nyesom Wike.

At the Isaac Boro Park a couple of weeks ago, thousands of APC members who accompanied their defecting leaders traded in their sagging brooms in exchange for PDP umbrellas at an occasion that was dubbed “11th Hour Homecoming”

With what is playing out in the field, it is clear that the APC in Etche may be living on life support at the moment.

“We knew this would happen. The lies and deceit which had hoodwinked so many APC members in the State have come into the open”, a former Spokesman of the party, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke said to our reporter in Port Harcourt.

“What is now left is the carcass of the party” Nwuke added, “There is no doubt that the roof has caved in.”
