… Vows to construct internal roads

Again! Differences between ex- Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Governor Nyesom Wike come to the surface over Egbeda.

Governor Nyesom Wike has adopted Egbeda, a village abandoned by the Amaechi administration as his new maternal home.

Egbeda, home town of the mother of the former Minister of Transportation is in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Irked by remarks credited to the former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, Wike said only a bad child could allude shamelessly that the provision of basic infrastructure in his maternal his unnecessary.

“I have now chosen this place as my maternal home”, Wike declared while speaking during the flag off of work on the Akpabu-Egbeda Road.

He went on, “Now, we that our mothers are not from here, we are doing something to help your (Amaechi’s) maternal home and you are saying it is unnecessary and a waste of money.”

Baffled by Amaechi’s attempt to disparage a project that would open up the Rivers grassroots, Wike said of his predecessor, “You see, when you have a bad child, he is a bad child.”

Gov. Wike to Amaechi.. You’re a bad child

“Today, we are here to flag off this Akpabu-Egbeda road that will link us to Elele Road.

“Chidi Loyd has said that your son came here to say that this road is not necessary and that it is a waste of resources.

“When he was governor, which one did he do that was necessary? His mother is from Egbeda, is it not? Did he do anyone that was necessary there?

“You see, your mother (Amaechi’s mother) is from here (Egbeda) and you did not deem it necessary to do anything for your maternal home… You see, when you have a bad child, he is a bad child.

” If he is not a bad chil”, Governor Wike stated, “he should have thanked us for removing shame from his face that we came to your maternal home to do what you refused to do for them.

“Since he has refused to have shame, I am now going to add to the things that I will do for his maternal home.

“As my new year gift to the people of Egebda, all of you should go home and rejoice because I am going to construct all your internal roads”, the Governor added.

Joy Unlimited:

Days after the flag off of the vital link road which connects Egbeda to Akpabu, widespread jubilations have continued among the rural people.

Four out of every five Egbeda persons spoken to by this publication are happy about Wike’s new year gift.

They say his gesture, particularly the order to the Commissioner of Works, directing him to stay back with the contractor to deal with the internal roads has raised their hope

An indigene of Egbeda who spoke under conditions of anonymity noted, “Our community gave Amaechi a mother, but Amaechi apparent hates the Egbeda people.

“Amaechi has neglected us and treated us with so much levity. His mother still lives and we are happy that God has kept our sister to this day.

” We thank Governor Wike for what he is doing to wipe our tears. We are glad to have him as a maternal son of Egbeda.”
