By PHC Telegraph

Governor Nyesom Wike has become the centre of attention since the PDP crisis began.

Sons and daughters of the Ikwerre ethnic nation have affirmed, a few days to the forthcoming presidential elections, that they will bless anyone that Governor Nyesom Wike chooses to bless.

Governor Wike of Rivers State is yet to disclose who his preferred presidential candidate will be.

But within pro-Atiku circles, there are growing speculations that Wike, the Rivers strongman, may eventually settle down for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC.

Wike has himself referred to these speculations in the political rumour mill, stressing that he is not affected in any way by these insinuations.

With views sharply diverted inside the PDP, the Chairman of the Ikwerre Local Government Area Council, Dr Samuel Nwonosike who spoke  early in the week said Rivers people, particularly those from the Ikwerre ethnic nation, will go wherever Wike wants them to.

Atiku Abubakar, Iyorchia Ayu and Nyesom Wike. Their differences might ruin the chances of the PDP if utmost care is not taken before the presidential race.

Nwonosike made the declaration in the presence of Governor Wike at Elele during the official flag off of Internal Roads in Elele.

The Chairman recalled that it was at Elele some years ago that the Ikwerre people gathered to ask Wike to answer the clarion call by Rivers people requesting him to lead the State.

Saying that Governor Wike has since surpassed the expectation of Rivers people, the council Chairman declared, “We will stand with anyone that you stand with…support whoever you support and follow anyone you follow.”

Nwonosike who did not refer directly to the intra-party squabble that is rocking the PDP remarked that Governor Wike has proved to be a dependable leader, ally and defender of the cause of Rivers people.

According to him, people are satisfied with the level of transformation that is taking place in Rivers State.

He also said that the State’s Chief Executive has succeeded in  wiping away  tears of sorrow that trailed generations of Ikwerre people.
