2023 General Elections: We will show our power – Wike
▪︎ Insists Rivers people not 2nd class citizens;
▪︎ Declares they cannot be intimidated;
▪︎ Urges them to vote Siminalayi Fubara, others
Governor Nyesom Wike has stressed that the Rivers people will convincingly use their permanent voters’ cards, PVC, to demonstrate strength and tenacity in the forthcoming general elections.
The Governor who reiterated in Omuma that<span;> Rivers people are not second class citizens in Nigeria expressed optimism that the people will speak emphatically through their votes.
“Our power is our PVC” Governor Wike stressed while addressing the rally in Omuma, “We will use it well on the 25 February and 11th of March.”
The Governor remarked, “Let me tell you, this election will not be like 2019 when they used soldiers and used police. It will not happen again.”
Why Rivers people shouldn’t Consider Tonye Cole/APC as an option:
The Rivers strongman revealed why Tonye Cole, the APC gubernatorial candidate cannot be trusted.
He said Cole who is being propped by Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, has serious questions to answer following what transpired over the sale of state assets belonging to Rivers people.
Sahara Energy rep9rtedly bought power assets sold by the Amaechi administration for $308 million.
Thereafter, Amaechi ordered the Rivers State Government to pay another sum of money, $50 million some say, back to Sahara Energy, claiming the Rivers establishment under Amaechi’s watch had borrowed money from the company.
“The money that should have been used to develop Omuma and some other local governments of Rivers State was siphoned by Tonye Cole and his master”, Wike told Omuma people.
“That’s is why we have charged them to court”, Wike pointed out, “because we will not allow anybody who stole our money to come to power through the backdoor.”
Wike urged the Rivers people to vote for his successor, Sim Fubara, his running mate, Professor Ngozi Odu and all Rivers PDP candidates.
Place of Rivers people in Nigeria:
According to the State Governor, Rivers people cannot be run aground by anyone in Nigeria.
He emphasized, <span;>“Nobody should be afraid of whatever is going on in the country. We cannot be intimidated.
“Nobody can take this flag away from us. We are not second-class citizens to anybody and we must continue to stand firm and make sure our state is protected.
Wike acknowledged that Fubara and Odu are both technocrats with a deep insight of how governments work.
While Sim, the gubernatorial candidate, rose to be a Permanent Secretary and the Accountant General in the State Civil Service, Odu who is now a professor was equally a Permanent Secretary in the service.
Wike assured the Rivers people that the duo would guarantee their well-being and consolidate on all ongoing efforts to totally transform the State.
The Governor also seized the opportunity to disclose that his administration has approved the construction of the Eberi-Umuakali Road.
He insisted that the road would be completed and commissioned within his tenure.
Wike commended the outgoing State House of Assembly member, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu for his excellent performance, especially in delivering meaningful Constituency projects and attracting government presence in Omuma.
The State Chief Executive asked Senatorial candidates of other political parties to step down for Chief Allwell Onyeso who is standing on the platform of the PDP, adding they were comparatively immature to square up against him in the race for the Senate.
