Rivers prepares for the visit of President-elect
…Even as a plot to scuttle inauguration day deepens
By PHC Telegraph

Arrangements are seriously ongoing in Rivers State as officials here prepare to receive the President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu, the Port Harcourt Telegraph has learnt
Governor Nyesom Wike who stood against his own party on the road to the last presidential election is being seen at the moment as one of Nigeria’s foremost leaders who worked tirelessly for the realization of the quest of the people of Southern Nigeria to install a President from the South.
Wike had revealed while fielding questions from a group of journalists that he has extended an invitation to the President-elect.
While visiting the State, Tinubu who is waiting to be inaugurated as the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will commission one of the legacy projects constructed by the Wike administration.
While Wike who played a key role in cementing the victory of the President who ran on the platform of the APC awaits his arrival, there are revelations that moves are being made in parts of the country to scuttle the inauguration of the new President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The Directorate of State Security disclosed a few hours ago that it has harped upon a plot by some persons whose identity it did not disclose to create unrest in the country through carefully planned protests, the promotion of violence and the orchestration of other actions to stop the Asiwaju.
The secret police as some people describe the DSS said the clandestine plan hatched by certain forces was intended to ensure that an interim government is put in place.
Tuesday, a group of Obidients operating under the aegis of the Labour Party in Port Harcourt gathered conspicously around Artillery in the Rumuogba axis.
The pronouncement of the DSS Tuesday. was a direct confirmation in public of what might already be well known within some pro-democracy circles across the country.

Governor Wike had long warned the nation about the existence of a plan to constitute an interim national government.
He noted then that a hideous cabal with the active connivance of some persons in the Presidency was scheming behind the scene to deny the Nigerian people of an opportunity to install leaders who would emerge through the ballot box.
Rivers people from what we have learnt are optimistic about the visit of the new president in waiting.
“We are happy that our State will be one of the states that he (Tinubu) will be visiting officially after he won a monumental and historic victory”, a highly placed member of the Rivers PDP Campaign Council remarked.
“We are glad that Governor Nyesom Wike and the Rivers people will soon role out the red carpet and the drums to welcome one of Nigeria’s finest politicians to the State.
“We have no doubt that his era as the president would be capable of turning around the national economy”, the Rivers PDP member hinted.
Since the Rivers State Government embarked on the commissioning of fresh projects, three high profile Nigerians from parts of the country have inaugurated them for use by Rivers people.
They include the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi (APC), Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State (PDP) and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State (PDP).
The proposed visit of the President-elect to the State is expected to be the icing on the cake.
Many expect that the president-in-waiting would use the opportunity of his planned visit to thank Governor Wike and the Rivers people for their support which contributed immensely to his electoral victory on February 25, 2023.
Thus far, the Rivers State Government has not released the exact date of Tinubu’s proposed visit.
Our Correspondent who visited sites of the flyovers under construction says the extent of work achieved by Julius Berger Nigeria Limited which is handling the jobs is quite impressive.
Wike holds the record of building 12 flyovers within the last four years of his administration, a record that no Nigerian Governor is yet to surpass.
