Dr. Samuel Ortom, one of the leaders of the G5 and the Governor of Benue State has rated the Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike as the best of the governors in Nigeria in terms of projects delivery.
Ortom was in Port Harcourt on Wednesday to commission the 11th flyover built within the last four years of the Wike administration.
He commended his Rivers counterpart for both the quantum as well as the quality of projects that he has initiated.
The G5 leader said it was difficult to find in Nigeria, any governor with the kind of legacy projects that Wike is leaving behind in Rivers State.
The Benue Governor described Wike as a fine bridge builder who has brought Nigerians from different parts of the country together to pursue common objectives designed to unite Nigeria.
Ortom paid tribute to the friendship that he has shared with Wike, saying a time comes in life when sharing relations with a friend is far better than forging close ties with a wicked brother.
Ortom urged the Governor-elect, Sir Siminalayi Fubara to follow strongly in the footsteps of the outgoing governor and ensure that he does better in office.
Governor Wike thanked Ortom for accepting to commission the project and lauded Julius Berger for completing the Mbguoba/Ozuoba/Ada George Junction Flyover earlier than schedule.
He said the whole idea of building flyovers within the State capital was to help decongest traffic and enhance the urban renewal process
The Governor expressed satisfaction that government had dutifully met its obligations to the masses under his watch and thanked the people for their immense support.
“I thank you for giving us the support. As I said before, we will do everything humanly possible to complete every project that we have started. If we do not, the governor–elect, who is part of the administration, will of course complete all of them.
“In fact, I was telling the governor-elect that his 100 days in office, he will have more than enough projects for him to commission. That is why we prayed for consolidation and continuity.
“Assuming you did not support the governor-elect, what would have happened if another governor from another party had emerged. I thank God that you didn’t listen to them.”
