Nigeria, You And I Must Discuss – Tinubu

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Nyesom Wike acknowledging cheers from the crowd.

 

“As you make people happy, create excitement and development across this State”, Nigeria’s President-in-waiting said in Port Harcourt, “we have something to look forward to.”

Bola Tinubu who spoke glowingly about Governor Nyesom Wike whom he described as a dependable person was speaking  on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover.

Stressing that Wike has so much to offer to the nation, the President-elect, obviously at home among Rivers people remarked. “Nigeria, you and I must discuss.”

The new helmsman, set to be sworn in on the 29th, did not say what it is he intends to discuss with the outgoing Rivers Governor when the time comes.

He however made it known in very few words that they would not be discussing the issue of “expected indebtedness” by the Federal authorities.

State governments have usually asked for refunds in respect of projects done on routes exclusively belonging to the Federal Government .

Leaning on that tradition established by several state governments, Wike on behalf of the Rivers State Government asked for a refund of money spent on the construction of the 12th flyover to the coffers of the Rivers State Government.

“I owe you nothing. It’s your road”, Bola Tinubu,  President-elect of Nigeria said, but he acknowledged there was nothing wrong with lobbying him.

“You can’t chuckle me to make a demand”, Tinubu stated clearly, “you are the one living on this road.You have to lobby me to collect”, the incoming Commander-in-Chief observed.

The former Governor of Lagos State referred to Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Governor of Rivers State as a man of integrity and a dependable ally.

Tinubu said he was glad to be in the State. Saying he reception accorded him by the government and the people was a “great honour and moment for me”

The President-elect spoke of the structural support that he received on the road to the election and expressed delight over his victory at the polls.

Paying tribute to Wike, Tinubu said is a man of principles,a man of great integrity who promoted unity, fairness and championed justice..

He said with the development drive of Governor Wike, there is something to look forward to in the country.

Earlier, Governor Wike had thanked the President elect for fulfilling his promise to commission projects in the State.

Wike said the visit was first of its kind as it was the first assignment to be undertaken by Tinubu since his declaration as President elect.

The governor expressed hope that the President elect would put the state on the front lane of development .

The president elect waa accompanied on the visit by state governors including Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma,Kwara state governor,Abdulrazak, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.

Others are Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker, House of Representatives and a former governor of Osun state, Chief Bisi Akande
