Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State places a hundred million bounty on the head of 2-Baba and others at large who murdered Superintendent Bako Angbashim.

The Rivers State Command says it will not rest until it has brought the killers of late Bako Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police, to justice.

The State Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwoye who visited Ahoada Saturday gave the undertaking while speaking to officers and men of the force.

Angbashim had been killed in action after he and his men were ambushed by hoodlums.

Nwoye assured that the killers of the Divisional Police Officer who are on the run will not find any hiding place.

They would be tracked by the force, he emphasized, until they are brought to book for the heinous crime that they committed

He consoled the men on the loss of Angbashim, saying his contributions to the fight against organized crime  would never be forgotten.

The injured officer who brought succor to so many in Ogoniland was captured on September 8, 2033 and beheaded by his captors.

The Rivers State Government reacted swiftly to news of Bako’s death.

It announced a bounty of N100 million for information leading to the arrest of the killers and vowed it would do everything possible to rid the State of crime.

There has been an outpouring of grief as news of his death makes the rounds.

No less than 1.7k persons touched by the brutal murder of the super cop who went about bare-footed have so far reacted on Facebook.

Atokumi Helen who took to Facebook said, “Who so ever that is linked to the death of this man will go down in pieces. Rest on Sir. May God grant you the peace you restored in Ogoni land.”

Nwidae Vincent remarked, “Wonderful DPO rest in peace” while Gideon Barilemeloo Friday summed up the mood of those, particularly in Ogoniland who are mourning his death

According to Friday,  Bako used his good office “to safe lives and properties, installed peace and settled conflicts” without bribery.

He said many referred to the slain officer as “that bear footed uniform man” known to “carry out his duties unsentimentally & unbiasedly.

Continuing, Friday noted that he was “the only Police Man that I’ve witnessed in my entire life that protect(ed) the poor.

“SP Bako Angbashim, the News of your death saddens the heart of the Ogonis. May Jehovah seek the lives of whosoever is involved in your death.”

Never has a policeman been so celebrated like Bako was among the Ogonis of Rivers State.

Even in death, the Ogonis are mourning his demise.

Khana is largely peaceful and Ogonis recall it took the sacrifice, commitment and the dedication of one man, Bako Angbashim, to achieve.

Barry Deginee had this to say, “Thank you SP BAKO ANGBASHIM for the sustainability of peace in Khana Local Government Area.
We cannot forget your effort in restoring peace in the area.

The news of your brutal murder has turned the entire Ogoni ethnic nationality into mourning. You were loved by many. Good night.”

It may be light’s out for this extraordinary cop who lived and worked among Rivers people, but his memory will most certainly live on.
