We Are Not Concerned With Their Diversionary Antics – Fubara
By PHC Telegraph
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has accused some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly working with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike of seeking cheap publicity.
The Governor who addressed a cross section of Rivers stakeholders in Port Harcourt at the Banquet Hall of the Government House on Sunday hinted that pro-Wike lawmakers were simply struggling to attract attention.
Fubara said Nigerians are acutely aware of the indecent and ignoble abuse of legislative processes being adopted by the pro-Wike lawmakers.
He described the actions of the said lawmakers as very childish, saying that the misguided steps that are being taken by them to undermine the peace and progress of the State will not succeed.
The Governor vowed that the move to undercut the State will be resisted, but not through violence.
According to him, the ultimate design of “the people on the otherside” is to “cause violence” and destabilize a peaceful and progressive State.
Fubara who did not disclose what steps his government is apparently taking to secure the Rivers mandate said Rivers people were acting through individual and collective efforts that he did not instigate to correct anomalies caused by the strange mannerism and antics of the said lawmakers.
How Redeployment Led To Retirement:
Speaking for the first time on the redeployment of two members of the State Executive Council, the Governor observed that government responsibly took the pragmatic step in order to rejig the system.
He explained that an exercise within his power intended to guarantee efficiency, improved service delivery, sustainable progress and development had led to the exit of strange bedfellows.
The Governor assured that he would carry out more redeployment exercises in a bid to ensure that the government adequately fulfills its promise to serve the needs of the people.
Thank You Rivers People:
Governor Siminalayi Fubara also thanked Rivers people for the massive support that they are freely giving to his government.
He stressed that he and members of his team would remain eternally grateful to the elders and people of the State.
The number one citizen of Rivers State promised he would protect the mandate given to him by the Rivers people.
He noted that the organic support that he is getting has demonstrated that strength can be found in the unity of a people.
“We already have the power”, the servant leader who received a standing ovation remarked, pledging that he would devote his time in office to the service of the Rivers people who elected.
The Governor assured that he would continue to ensure that an atmosphere of peace prevails in the State.
He explained that inspite of acts of sabotage allegedly masterminded by the Minister of the FCT and his backers, his administration has succeeded in silently embarking on the execution of laudable projects.
He pledged that the government would next month showcase its achievements when it commences the celebration of its first year in office.
“Let me thank the elders and people” for their support, the Governor told Rivers stakeholders, “we will carry everyone along.”
