A new member of the Rivers State Executive Council is to be sworn in today by the State House of Assembly today.
He is Dagogo Iboroma.
According to a statement issued by G.M Gillis-West, Clerk of the House, the screening of the nominee would commence later this morning.
The nominee whose portfolio has not been disclosed is believed to hail from the Kalabari speaking part of the State.
The decision to forward the name of the nominee to the House came in the wake of a court injection secured on Friday that barred Martin Amaewhule and 24 others from parading as Speaker and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
What Is Known About Iboroma:

Not much is known in public about Iboroma who will be appearing for screening before the Chamber of the House that is situated in the Administration Block of the Government House Port Harcourt.
He is not one of the many popular names that are known in political circles, especially in the State of his birth.
What is known is that Iboroma is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, who has built a reputable legal practice.
Thus, Iboroma belongs to a new genre of professional technocrats that are being lured by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to join him in steering the ship of state
The memo asking him to come before the House which was despatched by the Clerk read: “The Rivers State House of Assembly hereby invites the following Commissioner nominee for screening and confirmation as a member of the Rivers State Executive Council. Dagogo Iboroma.
“The screening is expected to hold at the Hallowed Chamber, Rivers State House of Assembly, Auditorium, admin block, Rivers State House of Assembly.
“The nominee is to come along with 10 sets of his curriculum Vitae , photocopies of his credentials and their originals.”
Exit Of Strange Bedfellows:
Of the total number of commissioners who are part of the State Executive Council, three known to be close associates of the former governor have disengaged.
They are Barrister Isaac Kamalu former State Commissioner for Finance and Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, formerly responsible for the Justice Ministry who resigned after they were reassigned.
Also gone is the previous Commissioner for Works, Alabo George Kelly. Kelly who served for several years under Barrister Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor, recently took an appointment at the federal level.
Injection Of New Blood:
The screening of the new commissioner – designate who is expected to be seated when lawmakers file into the Hallowed Chamber this morning would perhaps be one of the major assignments that will be performed by Speaker Oko-Jumbo.
Fubara whose authority to govern the Rivers State is being challenged by an angry Wike is making spirited efforts to take control of his administration.
Try as he has, Wike has not be able to subdue Fubara as well as the resolve of Rivers people who want him have a freehand to govern the State.
Wike, an experienced fighter who claims to have crushed Atiku Abubakar’s effort to emerge as President has admitted publicly that he did not know the stuff that Fubara is made of when he decided to support his gubernatorial bid.
The Rivers State Assembly under the new Speaker has already voided all the amended laws introduced by the Martins Amaewhule led faction.
But Fubara has rallied back, refusing to be intimidated, harassed and outflanked by his opponents who are using Abuja as a base for the offensives that they are launching.
The latest move reflects the resolve of the State Governor to inject fresh blood into the system and also re-enforce the direction and purpose of his administration.
Recall that Rivers people had expressed strong misgivings after Governor Fubara was compelled at the commencement of the new administration to reappoint several commissioners who worked under Wike.
What Will Wike Do?:
A flurry of meetings are currently taking place in the Wike camp where an obsession to bring down the Fubara administration exists.
The Telegraph which has been monitoring developments can authoritatively report that the Wike camp is considering options that are open to it, particularly on how to destabilize Governor Fubara and where possible, make the State ungovernable
