We Are On Ground In Omuma – CTC Chairman
By PHC Telegraph
Caretaker committee chairman of Omuma Local Government, Promise Reginald has given reasons why pro-Wike lawmakers are stacking up a plethora of legai suits in courts scattered over the land.
Speaking on Arise Television on Tuesday, Reginald said the said lawmakers are aware that if elections were to be held to fill the vacancy created by their defection from the PDP to the APC, they would lose their seats.
As a result of the trust deficit that they are facing in their constituencies, Reginald said, they have resorted to unsavoury antics and the institution of frivolous cases in court.
Reginald said the Governor Siminalayi Fubara administration is popular among Rivers people because of the manner that it has approached development as well as welfare related issues.
The Caretaker Chairman equally admitted that the Omuma people have become very supportive of his administration which is one month old.
Giving account of his stewardship under one month, the Caretaker Chairman stated that in addition to empowering more than 2000 people in his local government area, he has embarked on the rehabilitation of local roads and some health facilities.
Reginald commended the Governor for being forthright, determined and focused, saying that he and his colleagues are not unmindful of the directive urging them to work with the people and for the people.
On the decision of the Supreme Court, the local government boss said the autonomy accorded to the 774 councils in the nation will enhance their efficacy and encourage their performance.
He however did not agree while fielding a question that the autonomy granted to councils by the Supreme Court would pitch grassroots leaders against those who head governments at the subregional level.
It would help to facilitate development at the third tier level and provide a proper platform for effective collaboration between the State Government and third-tier-level administrations, he added
