Rivers: Fubara To Address World Press

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is expected this morning in Port Harcourt to address a world press conference.
According to information that is filtering in, the venue of the parley with journalists is the Government House, Port Harcourt.
Journalists are expected to be seated at 7.30am, according to a statement issued by the the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
Although the Rivers Governor has had brief encounters with the media, this is the first time since he took the oath of office that he would be addressing a press conference of this magnitude.
The move to address an international press conference may not be unconnected with an attempt to draw meaningful attention to unfolding events in Rivers State.
it would also be an opportunity, the Telegraph reports, for the Governor to highlight some of the strides that are being made to transform the State and develop its economy as well as democratic culture.
Yestetday, demonstrators allegefly sponsored by a renowned opponent of the Fubara administration embarked on a street protest.
They were on the street to register their displeasure with the conduct of local government elections which is to be held in the State on Saturday.
The Government which is urging voters to turn out enmass insists the election is being held within the framework of the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court and the official directive of President Bola Tinubu which gave it to organise the elections within 90 days.
