Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo, a former militant leader and Ijaw campaigner has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike to end their unholy war against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, saying “something will happen”
Dokubo who spoke Tuesday on the Morning Show broadcast on Arise Television said that those who are suggesting that nothing will happen in Rivers State if they touch Fubara should be wary of taking such a step.
The freedom fighter acknowledged that what is taking place in Rivers State under the watchful eyes of the President is totally unacceptable.
Asari accused Tinubu, arguing that the President is complicit in what is going on in Rivers State and said the Rivers people would not allow those behind moves to remove Fubara to walk away like that.
“Something will happen”, Asari insisted again and again, warning that the President is busy courting trouble by joining forces with Nyesom Wike to intimidate the Rivers Governor.
He admitted that he has shared a personal relationship with the President, but said that the people of his generation born in the Niger Delta region would re-enact age-long ties between them and the North.
He observed that ties forged in the past with the North by leaders of the oil – rich region were mutually beneficial and resourceful, citing the creation of Bayelsa State and other development-oriented institutions as core examples of achievements gained through North-Niger Delta ties.
Asari expressed serious indignation over the attitude of those who are carrying a false air of misplaced arrogance and still go ahead to create the impression that oil is no longer a premium energy source.
Insisting that champions of this line of thinking in the country try to intimidate owners of the mineral resource, he said they have remained very dependent on oil for all the strides that have been achieved at the national or subregional level.
He said they (the Tinubu and his associates) have within this period, created all sorts of development commissions that are being funded by oil proceeds from the Niger Delta region.
And teamed up with Wike, a former state governor, to frustrate the Rivers people and their elected administration
Meanwhile, the NDDF, a militant organisation has warned it would blow up oil facilities if the Federal Government and its alies continue to threaten the peace in Rivers State.
It said the consequences would be dire if Wike and his supporters in the corridors of power proceed with their plan to edge out the governor.
