The leader of the opposition elements within the National Assembly, Ikenga Ugochinyete has dismissed claims that the Supreme Court has sustained the place of Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Ugochinyere who appeared on Arise Television Monday evening said what the Apex Court looked into was a matter pertaining to the representation of the 2024 budget.

He disclosed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara who earlier filed a suit to challenge an order compelling him to represent last year’s budget decided when hearing commenced to withdraw the matter.

Ugochinyere who was seen clutching a court document said there was no time Amaewhule’s claim to the speakership of the Rivers Assembly was discussed.

According to him:

The Federal lawmaker expressed shock over the manipulation of the outcome of the decision of the Supreme Court, saying no victory was won.

The opposition lawmaker said Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo remains the authentic speaker of the Rivers State of Assembly known to Nigerians, insisting that Amaewhule and his colleagues had failed to abide by the provisions of the nation’s constitution.

He said Fubara had surrendered literally everything required to run a government to the Minister of the  Federal Capital Territory when he came into office.

But he said Wike’s insatiable appetite and overbearing nature led to the war between Fubara and himself.

He lampooned Ambassador Illiya Damagum and Samuel Anyanwu for making themselves willing tools in the hands of those who want to kill the PDP.

Ugochinyere said he and his colleagues have become aware of a plot to frustrate PDP’s forthcoming NWC meeting.

He urged the party’s Board of Trustees and the Governors Forum who are doing everything to resuscitate the PDP not to allow those behind the plot to succeed.

Initial reports have suggested Martins Amaewhule recorded a massive victory in open court as soon as the Justices of the Apex Court delivered a short ruling.

But more accurate narratives of what transpired in court have since emerged.
