The Presidency has taken steps to allay growing concerns among Nigerians who are worried by the continued absence of President Bola Tinubu from the country at a period of worsening insecurity, especially in the North Central geopolitical zone.

Addressing public reactions which are resulting in widening condemnations of the Tinubu’s foreign trip, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy said his boss is in complete touch with the situation at home.

He explained that President Tinubu who has already left France is expected back home after the Easter celebration

Onanuga who took to his verified handle on X remarked hours ago that “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe.

“His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated time-frame of approximately two weeks.”

The Presidential Adviser revealed the President has arrived London on the last lap of his oversea trip.

“The President left Paris for London at the weekend” Onanuga disclosed, “and has maintained constant communication with key government officials.”

According to the presidential spokesman Tinubu has been busy overseeing critical national matters and issuing directives to the nation’s top security chiefs as part  of efforts by the administration to address emerging security threats in some parts of the country.

Onanuga added, “His return to Abuja and the resumption of duties at Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday.

“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership.

“We appreciate the public’s concern and assure all Nigerians that governance proceeds without interruption.”

Critics of the President have expressed serious indignation over the continued absence of the Commander-in-Chief at a time of the resurgence of arson, violence and murder of defenceless citizens in Plateau State and other parts of the country.

Some have insinuated that Tinubu may be facing health related challenges, a claim that has been strongly denied by the Presidency.
