Rivers Women Shun Solad’s Wife, Say They Want Sim

By PHC Telegraph

Rivers women  on Friday vehemently refused to allow the wife of Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of the State to address them.

The women drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas who were invited to participate in the opening ceremony of an empowerment  scheme  organised under the auspices of the Renewed Hope Initiative rose in protest as soon as it became clear that Mrs Ibas will address the gathering.

Chants of  “Give Us Our Governor” , “We Want Sim”, and “We Want Our Governor” rent the air just as the wife the Rivers Sole Administrator was about to speak.

They insisted during the protest that they would rather prefer to listen to the wife of Fubara instead of the one they openly described as imposter.

A correspondent of the Port Harcourt Telegraph reports that the angry women stormed out of the venue after shunning Ibas and expressing their preference for the retoration of democratic rule.

It is not clear why Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu did not turn up in Port Harcourt, the Rivers capital for the programme.

There were speculations Thursday evening that the wife of the President was already in town, explaining why as early as 7.30am Friday morning, women turned out in large numbers.

Observers note that the wife of the Cross River State Governor represented the First Lady Thursday in Calabar.

We have however learnt that proposed beneficiaries of the emowement scheme which brought the women of Rivers State together stayed behind
