The Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adebayo Adewole says the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Osun State would contest Saturday’s election despite being wholly disadvantaged by the party’s previous exclusion from the race
Adewole who appeared on the Morning Show broadcast Thursday on Arise Television said despite obeying an order of court directing it to include SDP on the ballot, INEC is yet to upload the names of his party’s polling agents.
According to him, he is in constant touch with the gubernatorial candidate and expressed the hope that he would put up an impressive performance despite coming on board only a few days to the Osun elections.
He said that inspite of the party’s late clearance to participate in the race, party supporters were in high spirits, stating that the mobilization process is going on.
The SDP presidential candidate described Jonathan as a gentleman man who fulfilled his pledge that his ambition was not worth the blood of any man and said Tinubu in contrast was vicious and greedy for power.
Until the SDP secured a favourable ruling in court, the popular projection was that the contest would be a three-way horse race between Accord, APC and the ADC.
Insiders however posit that the race would be between Governor Ademola Adeleke who observers describe as “likeable” and his challenger popularly known as “AMBO” from the APC.
Meanwhile, INEC has disclosed that the process of reprinting ballot papers and sensitive electoral materials to include the name and symbol of the SDP has commenced.
With barely 48 hours to go, the police say they have put in place a strong security arrangement that will ensure that INEC is able to organize free and fair elections.
