Do Nothing To Create Obstacles For Fubara – Former Federal Lawmaker

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a barrister at law, Chief Nyesom Wike has been asked to do nothing to destabilize the current administration in Rivers State.

Delivering his closing remarks on a chat programme broadcast by Love FM, a one-time federal lawmaker, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke said that although the Minister has been singled out as the best performing in the first year, he “should do nothing to create obstacles” for the Rivers Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

Asked what he thought of the comment of the Vice President who adjudged Wike as the best Minister in Tinubu’s government, Nwuke said he saw the commendation of the Minister as proof that Rivers sons and daughters have the capacity to contribute to nation building.

He said that for long, there has been the notion in some circles that Rivers people are only able to contribute wealth to the nation, stressing that the capability of the Rivers people to move the nation forward can be seen from the Vice President’s comment.

“I am not talking about Wike, Nwuke who was a guest on the programme remarked, “I am talking about Rivers State” and the contributions that its sons and daughters can make to the growth of the nation.

He credited civilian administrations which have governed the Rivers people right from the Odili days of progressively developing the State.

“Each of them have brought value to the table”, Nwuke stressed, saying that Fubara who has taken up projects like the Port Harcourt Ring Road,  the Trans-Kalabari Road and the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku  Road is poised to take the transformation of the State to the next level.

On what he thought of the assessment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  as the best Doyin Okupe, a campaign director of Peter Obi who quit his position before the last elections were held, the  former Information Commissioner said Okupe is entitled to his opinion.

But the founder of the Port Harcourt Telegraph said that the President has been able to take certain tough decisions which may in the long reposition the national economy.

He scored the President four on a scale of 10 in his first year, saying one year in office is not sufficient to judge the performance of any administration.

“Policies are like plants”, the former commissioner of Information explained, saying like plants, policies would need time to germinate.

However, he said that within one year, it is possible to see what the administration at the centre is likely to do in four years and said Tinubu has been able to take decisions that others before him lii I q have shied away from.

Nwuke agreed that Nigerians are going through serious pain at the moment. He however acknowledged that “if there is no pain there can be no gain.”

He commended state governors regardless of their political party affiliations, for boldly supporting President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, it was proof of the fact that Nigerian governors truly want their country to succeed, adding that the failure of the administration of President Tinubu would naturally translate to the failure of Nigeria.
