Unruly ‘Big Boys’ Distorting PDP Values – Emma Ogidi

By PHC Telegraph

Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emma Ogidi has described members of a group kicking against party directives as people who are very unruly.

Ogidi who spoke Monday morning on AriseNews said it was very clear despite efforts being made to restore core values within the party and ensure discipline, that some persons whom he referred to as “big boys” have continued to engage in acts that are designed to derail the party.

“They are very unruly”, Ogidi told the panel of interviewers on the Morning Show, assuring the Nigerian people that the Peoples Democratic Party will deal with the malaise soon.

He however admitted that after the 2023 general elections, most party members exhibited a lukewarm attitude, following the defeat suffered in the presidential race, but he said, there are attempts by stakeholders to rebuild the PDP.

Ogidi acknowledged that the South South zone has no vice chairman, due to the fact that an approved zonal congress has not been conducted.

In the meantime, there are arguments flowing back and forth concerning how the PDP should conduct its congresses.

Whereas ex-governor Nyesom Wike is insisting that it is not the business of the National Working Committee, NWC, to conduct congresses, others prominent players within the same party are saying the constitution of the PDP empowers the NWC to handle the conduct of congresses

They say it is the business of the NWC to draw up guidelines relating to the conduct of congresses, stressing that the NWC has the responsibility to monitor such events to ensure compliance with the rules of engagement.
