Governor Siminalayi Fubara shows he is in charge of governance matters contrary to initial fears expressed in some quarters.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Honour Sirawoo says Governor Sim Fubara is deeply committed to the speedy transformation of Rivers State.

Speaking while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt shortly after Thursday’s meeting of the State Executive Council which took place at  the Rivers State Government House, Sirawoo assured Rivers people that Governor Fubara is determined to accelerate the pace of governance despite time lost.

He said that the administration’s renewed focus and energy would place Rivers State firmly back on the path of sustainable growth and progress.

Sirawoo acknowledged the menace posed by flash floods, saying that the council chaired by Governor Fubara has directed government officials to embark on immediate remedial intervention to curtail the adverse effects of flash floods.

He however cautioned residents against the indiscriminate dumping of waste into drainage channels erected to facilitate the evacuation of storm water and urged them to avoid building on waterways.

He identified such practices as some of the man-made problems that help to worsen flooding.
