Senator Ali Ndume, a prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress and a major voice on the floor of the Senate has urged opposition political parties to elevate the quality of public debate by concentrating responsibly on issues of national interest rather than mundane matters relating to the academic background of President Bola Tinubu.
The former Senate Leader said on Monday in his reaction to the commencement of the campaign season that opposition leaders should focus their campaigns on policies and ideas that can attract voters.
Although Ndume did not refer to any specific opposition leader in his critique of the strategy of parties which want to seize power, he said they would be wasting value time needed to lure voters if all they can do is talk about Tinubu’s credentials
He said opposition parties and their presidential candidates should present Nigerians with clear alternatives to the policies of the Tinubu administration.
Right from the blast of the whistle, handlers of the APC campaign have focused on the scorecard of the Tinubu administration. They are sustaining the argument that despite the pains Nigerians have suffered reforms are gradually leading to economic recovery.
But the Atiku/Amaechi ticket is offering to return the oil subsidy regime, saying the Nigerian people have been at the receiving end of a policy reversal that has allegedly benefited the elite.
