● Dignitaries gather in Rivers State to bid her farewell

All the roads in the State today lead to Ubima in the Ikwerre Local Government Area where Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, will be laying his mother to rest. Late Mrs Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi was aged 89.
Already, dignitaries from all walks of life, including political heavyweights drawn from Nigeria’s top opposition parties such as the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the ADC, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC and his Vice, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and others have arrived Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for the burial
Friday, a service of songs was held at the Catholic Church in Port Harcourt in memory of the virtuous woman, mother and community leader who bore Amaechi, a two-time Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and a prominent ex – Minister under the Buhari administration.
Our Correspondents report that Ubima is ready to receive visitors who are in the State to pay their last respect to a woman who stood prayerfully in her last days behind her son.
In the meantime, sons and daughters of the community which has produced two governors have returned home to participate in the burial.
Loyalists of the ADC’s Vice Presidential candidate were seen at Ubima on Friday putting finishing touches to arrangements in preparation for today’s burial ceremony.
