Alkali’s identity confirmed


As Nigerians mourn the demise of energetic and promising young flight pilots, and attempt to unravel what could have led to the air mishap in Kaduna, the identity of one of the deceased officers of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has been confirmed.

A statement issued by his family and signed by Alhaji Sule Duada confirmed that their son, Flight Lt Abubakar Alkali was killed in that ill-fated incident.

The trainer aircraft, believed to be a Super Mushak, which had Alkali and one other on board unfortunately crashed within a NAF facility in Kaduna State on April 19.

The aircraft was on a training mission when it suddenly fell from the sky and disintegrated.

Dauda revealed that the officer was buried according to Islamic rite at NAF base Central Mosque, Kaduna on Tuesday evening.

Kaduna has recorded a number of air incidents, including one that claimed the lives of an Army Chief and a number of others who on board the military craft.

Investigations into circumstances which may have led to the accident have already commenced.
