Kayode Fayemi, Governor of Ekiti State has addressed a townhall meeting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The presidential aspirant, the latest to appear on the bloc under the aegis of the APC spoke on critical national issues shortly after his declaration.
He is the first aspirant with an ambition to govern Nigeria to address an interactive presidential townhall meeting since the campaigns leading to the 2023 elections commenced.
Citizens, representatives of Civil Society Organizations and the media were among those who participated in the event which was broadcast live on Channels Television.
The townhall moderated by Cyril Stober, a famous anchor on NTA focused primarily on national security concerns, the economy and gender related issues.
Fayemi acknowledged that Nigeria is presently faced with a lot challenges ranging from widespread insecurity, ethnic and religious differences to a dwindling economy.
He said securing lives and property, protecting public assets, tackling national instability, finding solutions to banditry and growing terrorism would be top level priorities if he is elected president.
Earlier, Fayemi who has been consulting stakeholders finally declared his interest to contest the presidential election in 2023.
Nigerians are watching to see who would be stepping in next. Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate is one those expected to purchase his expression of interest and nomination form.
