Reject imposition, Abe urges River APC members

Members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State have been urged to reject the imposition of candidates.

They have also been asked to refuse attempts to hoist an alleged “outsider” on the party

Senator Magnus Abe said while addressing a crowd of party faithfuls in Port Harcourt that the party will not allow someone he described as “an alien” answerable to “one man” to reap the benefit of the toil of its membership.

The Senator who also used the opportunity of the rally to inaugurate a pro-Tinubu group said he was throwing his full weight behind the national leader of the party.

He disclosed that his support for Tinubu is borne out of the fact that the former Lagos State Governor is a team player.

Abe said he was certain that if the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not pick the presidential ticket, he “will still support the party to success”.

“The problem of Nigeria is the behaviour of certain persons. We don’t have any problem with political parties. That is why we must do things differently to achieve different result”, Abe stressed.

Abe declared, “Tinubu is the only man that can deliver the killer punch that will make APC to remain in power after President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Whether Tinubu wins the APC ticket or not, I will contest the governorship of Rivers state. We must choose APC candidate that will deliver APC in Rivers state”.

Abe assured his supporters that he would run an inclusive, responsive and accountable administration which will serve Rivers people and non-indigenes resident in the State.

Senator Wilson Ake who spoke earlier said “there is no more room for gambling in Rivers APC.”

He went on, “We have been gambling for eight years. If you’re going to buy something, you will buy something that you know. You know Abe and Abe knows you.”

“He has the experience. He has been a lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly. He was appointed Commissioner for Information. They saw his performance and made him Secretary to the State Government, and the former governor (Amaechi) described him as the brain box of the government” Ake added.
