Governor Nyesom Wike has taken the battle over the control of public opinion to the doorpost of the APC, accusing its leadership of shifting the goalpost when it makes promises to the people.

The Governor made the allegation Tuesday during the commissioning of the Tombia Road Extension.

Wike had asked the APC a couple of days ago to challenge the performance of the PDP led government in Rivers State if it has the liver.

The APC, apparently with its back to the wall, following what many here see as the existence of internal differences within its ranks and file hurriedly replied.

A statement issued by the “Publicity Secretary – elect” quoted the “Chairman – elect’ of the APC, Chief Emeka Beke as saying that “The subject matter the governor chose to criticise the federal government about evoked a sense of tragedy.”

“How can someone who has no understanding of the economy and development suddenly arrogate to himself the job of lecturing the federal government on how to stimulate the economy?”, the APC queried.

Reacting to the APC, Wike urged Nigerians and the Rivers people in particular not to listen to the charade of leaders of the APC.

He said in the PDP, promises made at night are fulfilled in the morning.

But he noted that in contrast, the APC looks for excuses after it has made promises in order to ensure it finds other reasons why pledges made by its leaders cannot be implemented.

Wike said that the Tombia Road Extension upgraded to a dual carriage road by his administration was initially a single lane.

The Governor stressed that the road offers vital access between Aba Road and Ikwerre Road, saying its expansion would help reduce the gridlock experienced by commuters.

He urged the people to ignore what he refered to as the deception of the APC, which has ruled Nigeria, without living up to the expectation of the masses.

“Hold us accountable for whatever promise we make; hold us accountable for whatever we say”, Wike enjoined the people.
