The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has dismissed claims that he has struck a deal with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to run as his vice ahead of the 2023 general elections.
A recent media report claimed Atiku, who might be nursing an ambition, had dumped Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State who ran as his vice in 2019 and drafted Wike in as a replacement.
Addressing Rivers stakeholders in Port Harcourt Tuesday, Wike emphasized that he has not entered into any agreement with anyone.
He said there were real issues to focus on; far reaching decisions to make as a power bloc; saying speculations that he has cut a deal with Atiku were unfounded and completely baseless.
Wike expressed strong optimism that a statement capturing the mood of the South on power sharing is being expected any moment from now.
The Governor reassured Rivers people that he will not leave any debt burden for the incoming administration.
He said allegations that his administration has borrowed over N300 billion were false.
The stakeholder meeting which took place at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Port Harcourt, attracted several leaders of thought, including serving legislators at State and national level, elders of the State and party chieftains.
