The former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano is now chatting with officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja.

It would be his second day in the custody of the EFCC.

There is no evidence, at least for now, that the former governor  of Anambra would be leaving custody any time soon, the Port Harcourt Telegraph has learnt.

The suspect who just left office was flown out of Lagos where he was intercepted to the nation’s capital.

He is currently being quizzed over the manner funds appropriated under the ‘Sure P’ scheme as well as security votes meant for his State were applied.

Initial reports indicated that Obiano had been set free, but the anti-graft agency through its PR unit waved such claims aside, saying the former governor governor is busy answering questions.

The Commission has also denied reports that the wife of the out-gone Anambra Governor, Mrs Obiano is in their custody.

Recall that Obiano was picked up on Thursday night at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos at about 8.30.

It is still not known why the former governor who was placed on the watchlist of the EFCC last year tried to leave for Houston in Texas.

Some sticky issues relating to his activities while in power were raised by the anti-graft agency.

But, there is no proof that the governor who enjoyed immunity did much to resolve such matters before the expiration of his tenure.

Available information show that Obiano, who has just handed over to his successor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has been on the watchlist of the EFCC since November.

The Nigeria Immigration Service tipped off the EFCC about the Governor’s departure plan.

Some supporters of the former Governor believe that what is going on is politically motivated.

Obiano’s wife is in the news for fighting with Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, another showstopper.

Bianca, left a slap on the face of Mrs Obiano

Bianca is the widow of the former Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu.

Mrs Willie Obiano had openly confronted Mrs Ojukwu at the handover ceremony, accusing her of being a witch.

Bianca who could not stomach the insult  purportedly slapped the outgoing first lady in the face.

Mrs. Obiano is reported to have grabbed Bianca by the hair before the two angry women were separated from each other.
