More Nigerian Governors are showing increasing understanding for the presidential bid of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The latest State Governor to express support for Wike’s style in the build up to the presidential campaign is Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.

Ganduje asked Nigerians on Monday to take advantage of the nation’s diversity to strengthen its unity and progress.

The APC Governor made the call in Kano while exchanging views with his PDP counterpart, Governor Nyesom Wike.

Ganduje who said he was impressed by the diversity of Wike’s presidential campaign team said the time has come to lay a solid foundation for the emergence of a strong and unified country.

The Kano State Governor remarked that the diversity of Wike’s campaign team has shown that he has immense faith in the unity of Nigeria.

“Party differences”, Governor Ganduje noted, “should not make us stupid.”

“Our diversity is an advantage, even though we failed to utilise our diversity, each one of us must try in his own bid to change the status quo,” the Governor added.

Earlier, Governor Wike told Ganduje during a courtesy call that he would have withdrawn from the 2023 race if his host was running for president.

Governor Nyesom Wike speaks as Governor Abdullahi Ganduje looks on in admiration.

“If Ganduje is running for the presidency some of us will quickly withdraw our ambitions, but thank God he is not running and I’m sure he will help me to make it”, Wike stressed.

The governor appealed to the elite to work for the country’s unity irrespective of party differences.

He said in desperate situations tough and disciplined men are needed to lead the country, adding that he has the wherewithal to champion the course.

“There is no gainsaying that the country is not having it right, and there should be a desperate effort to save the nation, and by which I’m out to right the wrongs.

“Nigeria from wherever you choose to look at it, our great country Nigeria is bleeding, and certainly requires the collective efforts to recover its soul”, Wike stated.

Governor Ganduje is not the first APC governor to make complimentary remarks regarding Wike’s presidential bid.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has earlier expressed similar sentiments about Wike’s campaign effort.

Zulum said on that occasion while most Nigerian leaders stood on the side line and watched, Wike was, among a few leaders who supported and encouraged him in the hardy days of the Boko Haram onslaught in his State.

Governor Ikpeazu of Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu of Abia the other day urged his colleagues in the PDP to give the presidential ticket to Governor Wike.

He said Wike who has demonstrated serious capacity in matters pertaining to the advancement of his State and country deserved to translate into the next president of Nigeria.

Recall that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State had long before Wike declared his interest in the presidency that his Rivers counterpart would required to serve the nation at the centre.
