Developing story: Queen joins ancestors at 96
Buckingham Palace has announced that the longest reigning British Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II has died.
She was aged 96.
According to a palace statement, the late Queen passed on today after sitting on the British throne for 70 years.
Prince Charles, her first surviving
son and heir to the British crown has stepped in.
