How masquerades flogged worshippers in Plateau

Christ, founder of the Christian faith may have in anger chased out money changers, and all manner of persons who were trading in the house of God, the Bible reveals.

Now, Christians in Nigeria are being flogged out of their places of worship by masquerades as faith related violence escalates.

The latest incident took place Sunday at a community Church in the Shikal community, which is in the Langtang South local government area of Plateau State.

It is not yet known who or which group masterminded  the attack launched by the masquerades.

But we have learnt that the police in the Langtang area has launched an investigation.

Eyewitnesses however say the masqueraders invaded the church and disrupted the service in session.

They went about whipping the worshippers who were in shock and later destroyed Church property, the eyewitnesses revealed.

According to sources, the masquerades arrived at the Church premises Sunday morning while service was ongoing and chased away worshippers who escaped to avoid being hurt.

One report said the invaders later turned attention to the musical instruments and other property owned by the church and destroyed them.

DSP Alfred Alabo, State Police Public  Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.

“The DPO of the area has confirmed that it is true, they are working on the situation and the area is calm”, Alabo disclosed.

Quoting the DPO,  Alabo said the “masquerades went to a Church and disrupted their activities. The investigation is ongoing, we will give full details when we have them.”

It will not be the first time that masquerades would invade churches in Nigeria.

In the month of August, 2015, masquerades invaded a church and flogged both  the pastors and worshipers who were present.

On that occasion, four masquerades flogged the pastors and worshipers in Epinmi Akoko area of Ondo state.

One of the masquerades, Tunde Arohunmolase was however arrested while others fled.

Strangely, the masquerades reportedly quoted the Bible before flogging the daylight out of church members who belong to the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC.
