We’ll enter a deal – Rivers State Government

The Government of Rivers State has formally asked the authorities responsible for the management of Federal Courts to enter into a deal with it.
Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of a new complex that would provide more courtrooms for federal judicial officers posted to the State, Governor Nyesom Wike declared, “Let’s have a deal.”
He said that the State was desirous to enter into a deal which will give the State access to the grounds already housing the Federal Court system.
In exchange, the Rivers State Government which would complete the court project in six months along Forces Avenue in Old GRA will in addition built residential quarters for federal judicial officers who are currently tenants.
He said judges required to work and live in conducive environments in order to give their best to society and the advancement of the law.
The Governor explained that the old premises owned by the federal court would be needed to build more courts for the Rivers State judiciary.
According to him, the State Government requires space for the present and future expansion of the judicial arm given the pressure that it is facing at its current site.
Wike dismissed claims that he was focusing attention only on the judiciary, noting that the Rivers State Government has provided similar support to federal establishments operating in the State, including the security agencies.
Turning attention to the Nigerian Railways, he said despite attempts to paint what looked like indiscrepit shanty buildings after failing to upgrade them in line with the urban renewal plan, the Rivers State Government will today, Thursday 25th May, perfect the order taking over the parcels of land leased to the corporation.
Stressing that providing security is critical, he said the government could no longer allow structures that are turning refuge havens for criminals and other faceless persons to exist in the heart of the State capital.
Still on Wednesday, Governor Wike performed the flag off of construction work on the proposed palace of the Eze Apara Rebisi in Port Harcourt.
The palace project promised by the Wike administration is to be built along Kaduna Street at a point close to the Catholic Church which is located by the flyover built by the State Government.
The Governor who stressed the importance of the project and the place of the traditional institution also renamed the street after the Rebisi crown.
