Network paralyzes banks
… MTN plans network upgrade

Customers and all others who use the bank for their financial transactions mostly online are in trouble.

The networks of most banks which provide platforms for the carry on of business are down.

A survey conducted by the Port Harcourt Telegraph shows bank users are unable to transfer funds either for personal or business purposes.

Similarly, ATMs are declining payments forcing customers to dash to their banks to find out if there is anything wrong with their debit and credit cards.

The newspaper reports that banking halls which hitherto witnessed low customer turn out are gradually recording increased traffic.

Officials who spoke to customers who besieged their banks in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Wednesday, said they were having serious network challenges.

A customer of Gaurantee Trust Bank who was unable to transfer funds to an Access Bank account remarked, “It is frustrating that accessing money through online transactions is becoming very challenging.”

“They have fleeced the entire economy and kept the loot for the forthcoming election”, another customer uttered without proof.

The trouble with the network of banks like Zenith has been long drawn, with customers finding it increasingly tough to transact.

Meanwhile, phone users who rely on MTN have received an advisory which says its customers would face call challenges at midnight.

MTN said the interruption which will take place between midnight and 5.30am is to enable its tech team to upgrade the company’s network and enhance performance.
