Wike, one more celebration, before he leaves

Amidst ongoing efforts to provide Rivers people with much needed infrastructure, Governor Nyesom Wike will be plus one on Monday.

His birthday coincides with a time when the State Campaign Council of the PDP that he chairs is about to hit the trail.

A timetable detailing the number of campaign stops that the Governor’s team will make – Senatorial District to Senatorial District; Local Government to Local Government – is not in the public domain for now.

But the itinerary is expected pretty soon, according to credible information that we are obtaining from leaders of the party in Rivers State.

Although there are no details on what shape the observance of the Governor’s birthday will take this year, friends and associates are already sending private birthday wishes to the Governor whose tenure has witnessed peace, tremendous progress and great transformation.

Others are taking up newspaper pages to congratulate him on the occasion of his birthday.

Incidentally,  this will be Wike’s last birthday celebration as a serving State governor.

Many are however wondering how the Rivers Governor will celebrate his very last birthday in power.

“I don’t think the governor is giving his birthday a great thought”, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke who heads the Publicity and Communications Committee of the PDP Campaign Council disclosed to the Telegraph, “all he thinks about is how to make Rivers State great.

“He is such a fantastic mind, little wonder Nigerians are celebrating him. He has done so much for Rivers people and placed the State at the pinnacle of development. ”

Hailed across the entire country for his prowess in delivering high quality infrastructure, there are people who think “Mr. Projects” may spend his day inspecting projects.

“There are several such projects scattered all over the place”, an analyst said, “that the governor may choose to visit.

“The completion of the first phase of the Trans Kalabari highway is timed to take place about the 10th of December.

“Work is going on another flyover project across the East West Road around the Tank area. At the grassroots there are several other impactful projects that this Governor may decide to inspect.”

There are also others who imagine that the workaholic who is busy transforming the State and deepening the scope of the New Rivers Vision might devote time to strategies which would strengthen the PDP’s resolve to sell  its candidates to millions of voters on the campaign trail.

Yet, there would be nothing wrong if the Governor chooses to reflect on the extent of the journey so far, a school of thought posits.

Last year, Governor Wike on the occasion of his birthday said encouraging people in the PDP to exercise their interest and  freedom to contest the gubernatorial elections was his birthday gift.

What will the Governor’s gift be this year?

No one is sure, but insiders say friends and associates  would make sure that this year’s celebration is not only solemn, but remarkable.
