By PHC Telegraph

The Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections on March 18, 2023, have come and gone, but many in Okrika still cannot forget how King Ateke Tom prevented incidents of ballot snatching in Okrika.
One of the wards in Okrika where Ateke intervened last Saturday in bid to maintain law and order and protect the intgrity of the ballot was Ward 5.
According to a police report that we have cited, the younger brother of a male known as Adamu and three others hijacked ballot boxes in the ward that the PDP was winning.
We have learnt that one of the ballot boxes snatched by the trio acting in the interest of a desperate political party belonged to Unit 27.
The ballot snatchers reportedly injured an INEC female staff, giving her a fracture and attacked members of the PDP who were keeping an eye on the box.
Those attacked before the ballot box moved included the unit chairman of the PDP who lost his phone in the process .
It took the intervention of king Ateke Tom who called Adamu and issued instructions to him regarding the incident in Ward 5.
Adamu intercepted the trio, recovered the box and returned it to the unit.
