Allen Onyema: Stop! It’s not an Igbo thing!!
By PHC Telegraph

All those on social media and elsewhere writing all sorts about Allen Onyema’s offer to airlift stranded Nigerian citizens in Sudan for free have been asked to stop.
Chief Executive Officer of Airpeace Airlines, Allen Onyema made the call Wednesday morning on Arise News.
He said he has been greatly hurt by efforts by some persons on social media to turn his desire to help his country and her nationals who are in trouble into an ethnic thing.
“Please stop”, Onyema pleaded with Igbos operating on social media who are trying to give his kind gesture an ethnic slant, It is not an Igbo thing, it is not a Yoruba thing, it is not an Hausa thing”
He said he was pained that a gesture made in good faith as a Nigerian who believes in the positive projection of his country has become a subject ethnic rhetoric.
Onyema’s Airpeace fleet has been in action in South Africa, Britain, India, and wherever global or continental events have threatened to put the lives of ordinary Nigerians in harm’s way.
Unperturbed by insinuations that Nigeria has repeatedly failed to honor him for his sacrifices, Onyema said he considered it a privilege to join efforts to salvage Nigeria’s citizens and its image.
He said he belonged to the class of Nigerians who think of what they could do for the nation and not what the nation can do for them.
The Airpeace boss announced that the airlifting operation will commence on Friday.
He disclosed that Nigerians who have left Sudan in buses were approaching the Egyptian border, saying he was in close touch with Nigerian diplomats and other officials who are working to ensure Nigerians are evacuated from Sudan.
The Federal Government has since released money to ensure that busses are acquired and adequate security provided along the path in order to bring Nigerians home.
Interestingly, Airpeace will not charge a dime on the head of anyone who will flown home by its state-of-the-art airplanes.
