Developing story: Wike dissolves Campaign Council, inaugurates transition committee

The Consolidation of the New Rivers Vision Campaign Council has been dissolved. In its place a transition Committee which will midwife processes leading to a smooth handover of power in the State has been inaugurated.
Governor Nyesom Wike announced the dissolution of the campaign council while inaugurating the Transition Council Saturday at the Banquet Hall of Government House.
The Transition Committee which will be responsible for the handover of power on the 29th of Mayl to the Governor-elect, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy. Professor Ngozi Odu is headed by the Secretary to Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo.
Wike thanked members of the Campaign Council for doing a brilliant job, saying they contributed significantly towards the party’s resounding success in the last general elections.
According to him, the transition which will culminate in the transfer of power in the State is an all Rivers affair and not something exclusively reserved for members of the PDP.
The Governor explained that the membership of the committee transcended all segments of Rivers society, including members of political parties, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the judiciary and the academia among others.
He urged the Transition Committee which has a membership of about 200 to acquit itself creditably.
