Governor Siminalayi Fubara promptly raced to the Rivers State University where robbers raided female students. 

 

Police in Port Harcourt, capital  of Rivers State, have begun a serious manhunt for  pleasure seeking criminals who are on the run.

The run-away-criminals whose identities are yet to be known chose on a night that no one was watching to have ‘a little fun’ while stealing from defenseless girls at a female hostel.

Rivers people had woken up to the news of an incident at the Rivers State University. It is the new name by which the University of Science and Technology is now known.

According to facts that have emerged, the robbers gained access through a hole in the wall and systematically raped and robbed their victims.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara arrived the institution soon after it became common knowledge that randy robbers who chose a soft target allegedly attempted to wet their sexual appetite before stealing their victims dry.

Fubara visibly touched by the incident said he could have despatched state officials to the scene.

But he said that he had to see things for himself and vowed that those who committed the monstrous crime against defenseless women would be hunted down by the police, arrested and brought to book.

The Governor who was accompanied by Ambassador Desmond Akawor, State Chairman of the PDP however did not rule out the fact that some male students may have had a hand in the robbery and assault of female students.

He nonetheless assured members of the university community that victims of the randy robbers would be catered for.

Fubara revealed that his administration will equally strengthen the internal security arrangement within the tertiary institution to avert future occurences.

Stella,  a female student who spoke to this publication was full of praise for the governor, “He came here promptly on learning of it and spoke as someone who obviously has a mother and a sister.

“It could have been anybody. I am a woman and I know what those girls must be going through right now – the humiliation of being touched by force.

“How can somebody force his way into you and on top of that steal from you? It is painful. Fubara did well to come.”

A video of the governor’s visit has since gone viral. In it, students and other members of the university community can be heard cheering the governor.

In the meantime, police detectives are investigating and searching for clues that could lead them to the female hostel thieves.

Nobody knows how long the hunt for the deviants will take, but we have learnt through impeccable sources that the Rivers State Police Command is not leaving any stone unturned.

“Our men have poured into the field in a bid to try and get to the bottom of this matter”, a pained policeman who is not authorized to speak to the press revealed on the sideline.

“We are policemen, that’s true but we are parents too. Those who have done this deserve the maximum punishment. They deserve to have their male genitals cut off.”
