Abia: Otti Sacks Prof Edward Ebere Eule As The Traditional Ruler Of Azumini

All rights and privileges enjoyed by the traditional ruler of the Azumini community in Ukwa East LGA, HRM Eze Edward Ebere Eule have been withdrawn by the Abia State Government.
The decision to de-recognize the traditional ruler and declare his seat vacant was taken by the State Governor, Alex Otti.
Recall that the traditional ruler of Azumini autonomous community was suspended from office by the state government in February this year for allegedly engaging in acts of gross misconduct.
The Abia State Government categorically accused him at the time of acts unbecoming of a traditional ruler.
According to information that is filtering in, Governor Otti has eventually relieved him of his position as the traditional ruler of Azumini community.
The Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu said in a statement issued to the press that Governor Otti has approved the withdrawal of both the staff of office and certificate of recognition in the possession of Eze Eule.
The withdrawal of the staff of office and certificate of recognition, the statement explained, is due to the alleged refusal of Eze Ebere Eule to comply with directives stipulated in a letter of suspension handed to him on February 23, 2024.
The said letter was communicated to him in line with the provisions of sections 12, 14 and 20 of the Abia State Traditional Rulers and Autonomous Communities Amended Number 2 Law 2018.

Nwachukwu noted that the removal of the monarch was as a result of allegations of misconduct brought against him which led to the institution of a panel of inquiry by the Abia State Government to investigate his activities.
The Port Harcourt Telegraph understands that the panel at the completion of its task indicted Eze Edward Ebere.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Government has asked the former monarch not to parade himself as the traditional ruler of the Azumini autonomous community.
It has also directed Eule to return the staff of office and certificate of recognition issued to him within 14 days.
