Governor Siminalayi Fubara has in a video that has gone viral reiterated that he is prepared to leave office with his honour intact instead of demonstrating a sense of loyalty of the worst kind.
Reflecting on the ongoing war between him and his predecessor, Fubara took a long and hard look at opponents that areencamped against his rule, saying “I cannot give my kidney or liver to anybody” in the name of loyalty.
“I won’t!”, Fubara emphasized as Nigerians across the country prepared to celebrate independence day.
Fubara was not expected to last a week in office after he fell out with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
Many say the fear of Wike in politics is the beginning of wisdom but the great grandson of the Jaja dynasty has survived the political machine that broke the presidential run of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar.
Curiously, knowledgeable sources are no longer talking about how long Fubara will remain in office, they are rather wondering how long Wike’s influence in Rivers State will last if he continues the fight.
Umar Sani, a public analyst and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party said on Arise Television on Monday that Governor Fubara has effectively contained the voracious assault of the FCT Minister.
Speaking on the Morning Show, Umar said the decision of Fubara to run his candidates on the platform of little know political parties was to prove to Wike that any party he supports as the Rivers Governor would win the council elections.
Umar Sani: Wike not bigger than anyone
The chieftain expressed confidence in Fubara who has refused to leave the PDP, saying with the support of Governors of the party, the PDP would resolve the leadership debacle in Rivers State later this month.
Umar is not the only one speaking up. Chief Asuekewe Ikoawaji, Chief Anabs Sara Igbe, Senator John Azuta Mbata, Rt. Hon. Bernard Mikko, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke and others have continued to speak up against attempts to turn Rivers State into someone’s private estate.
As Nigeria celebrates 64 years of nationhood, Fubara has skillfully delivered a State that his peaceful; a State that is progressively beckoning to both foreign and local investors; and State that is prepared to defend its resources.
Despite the fierce fighting taking place in the trenches, the attempt to stir instability and political violence, Fubara has rapidly grown in strength and succeeded in so many ways, analysts who are watching the Rivers scene say, in turning the tide of the ferocious war against his former boss.
Stressing that he would not turn himself into a stooge, the Rivers Governor who has just celebrated his second independence anniversary in office noted, “If that is the only reason for me to be loyal, I will not be. But, I will not do the wrong thing. I will stand for the side of right.”
He said that even if he is the only man standing, he will not yield his right to speak the truth or mortgage the freedom to be his own man.
Fubara denied using power to intimidate anyone and said that although he has access to the security at his disposal he has not used on anybody.
“I make bold to say it, there is no security agency in this State that I have called any day to go and do something wrong.
“I have never. I don’t need it. But I know what they do, and they keep failing because God has left them.”
