Great Green Wall: Environment Minister Receives Senator Ngei Abe

Senator Magnus Abe, Chairman of the Great Green Wall project created by the President, Bola Tinubu, has paid a visit to the Federal Ministry of Environment.

Abe who was officially received at the Ministry Tuesday in his capacity as the Chairman of the Great Green Wall scheme was accompanied by Senator Barry Mpigi representing the Rivers East Senatorial District and Hon. Dum Dekor of the House of Representatives representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency.

Details of what transpired at the Ministry are sketchy, but a source hinted this publication that the Minister, Balarabe Abbas Lawal and the Senator may have rubbed minds on matters of significant importance pertaining to the pursuit of the President’s agenda and implementation of the Green Wall scheme.

The President has been driving negotiations to pave the way for the restoration of oil exploration activities in Ogoni.

At a meeting of Ogoni stakeholders held in Abuja, attended by the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, the President directed all the parties to work harmoniously towards the recommencement of oil exploration in Ogoni.

He said the Governor of Rivers State would play a critical role in driving the process.

The Ogonis have met as a people and there are reports that they have agreed despite efforts to discredit its outcome to work together in actualising the dream of Nigeria’s President to end years of Ogoni resistance on a very peaceful note.

The creation of the Great Green Wall, and the decision to build a Federal University of Environmental Technology are part of a comprehensive package put together to enhance and resuscitate the environment of  the Niger Delta region damaged by years of oil exploitation.
