Islamic Fighters May Attack Some States

• Ondo and Kogi States penciled down for coordinated attacks

Intelligence reports just released are warning some States and the Nigerian Army to be ready for coordinated attacks from an Islamic group that is fighting to destabilize the country.

The States are Ondo and Kogi.

According to an alert issued to the Army, by Nigeria’s secret police, also known as the Department of State Services, DSS, communities in the two States are likely to come under attack.

The Department of State Services also disclosed that the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP would be behind the said attacks.

It is not yet clear when the insurgents would strike, but the DSS which has been monitoring in the field appears”” certain that ISWAP might make the move.

Of late, insurgents have suffered serious setbacks as a result of Nigeria’s growing reliance on intelligence gathering and technological tools.

We are learning that as part of efforts to keep Taraba safe, its State government has deployed drones to enhance security in the area.

The Government’s gesture is being seen as timely by the Army and other stakeholders an effort to assist the effort to protect lives and property.
