Will President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is set to jet out of the country to spend his annual vacation transmit power officially to Vice President Kassim Shettima in line with the precedent established by President Muhammadu Buhari?
This is the question most Nigerians are asking as the news of the President’s impending plan to go abroad makes the rounds.
Bayo Onanuga, top aide to the President confirmed the President would be leaving for Europe tonight. The President’s first stop will be London, United Kingdom, the statement disclosed.
According to the statement, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.”
It added, “President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election.”
The statement however did not say where Tinubu would go next after stopping over in the United Kingdom.
During the Buhari era, the late President transmitted power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo severally in line with constitutional provisions each time he stepped out of the country.
