Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State

Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State says his emergence as the occupant of Brick House inspite of the very turbulent situation which existed weeks to the 2023 elections is as a result of the handwork of God.

Recalling what transpired during the struggle for power, Fubara said  at Sunday’s family thanksgiving service held in honour of the out-gone State governor at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Rumuepirikom Deanery that there was a plan to scuttle the chances  of the political family of Barr. Nyesom Wike.

He observed that the battle which was fiercely fought was intended to ensure that a smooth transition of power did not take place in the State.

But he noted that despite the rigmaroles and threats, most Rivers people are delighted by the smooth handover of power which has taken place.

Governor Fubara explained that the culture of thanksgiving adopted by Chief Wike all through his tenure to celebrate countless victories recorded against his opponents in the presence of the Almighty God truly showed proof of his undying love for his Creator.

Because Chief Wike has again returned to thanking God after 8 years of successful stewardship and service as governor, Fubara stressed, the former first family of the State will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Earlier, the former governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike recounted how God preserved him during his tenure and equally helped him to surmount political  as well as health challenges.

Attributing his miraculous recovery in Beirut after he was poisoned in 2018, Wike glorified God for healing him even when it was apparently clear that his blackened liver and kidney had failed.

He further revealed that the hand of God mysteriously healed his wife who was diagnosed of cancer in the build up to the presidential primaries in 2022.

Wike expressed gratitude to God not only for guiding his footseps while in office, but for granting the Rivers State a smooth and peaceful political transition in the midst of a treachery hatched by certain people who had vowed earlier to abide by the collective decision of the elders of Rivers State in respect of who should become his successor.

The former governor disclosed that he is enjoying peace because the right person is in office as his successor.

As he put it, the ascension to office of his successor has become one of the many electoral victories that God has used to prove that He did not abandon him and his faithful political team.

In his sermon, Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Wisdom Ihunwo said no man attains any height without the help of God.

He therefore entreated the congregation to cultivate the habit of thanksgiving to appreciate God who enables them to rise by grace to leadership positions and accomplish great feats.
