By PHC Telegraph

Chiefs, elders and people of Kalabari kingdom have called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State to answer the Clarion call of the people of Rivers State, urging him to prepare for another tenure in 2027.
The Kalabaris who were in Government House, Port Harcourt Tuesday said there several reasons why they visited the seat of power.
But they noted that Rivers people are satisfied with the Governor’s peaceful disposition, his mature handling of State affairs and the commitment he has to take the State to the next level.
Presenting the demand, Chief Pawariso Horsfall who delivered the position of the Kalabari said the people of the ethnic nation have resolved unanimously to endorse the Governor for a second tenure.
“As Kalabari, we are proud of you as Governor of Rivers State, particularly as an Ijaw son, following in the footsteps of King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Late Chief Melford Okilo, and Chief Rufus Ada-George, Sir Dr. Odili, and others.
“We are proud to say that Kalabari stood firmly with all these former Rivers State governors. We therefore owe Your Excellency our unflinching support and we make bold to say that you can always count on us.
“In line with our unimpeachable support for Your Excellency, we hereby call on you to run for a well-deserved second term in office in the year 2027”, Chief Horsfall said.
He further declared, “Kalabari are prepared to lead the campaign for your second term as governor of Rivers State. The massive support Your Excellency enjoys across the state and beyond makes this task much easier.
“Your humility, uncommon achievements, and commitment to the “Rivers First” philosophy have endeared you to Rivers people. We therefore unanimously endorse Your Excellency for a second term.”
Responding to their resolve to draft him into the race for a second term in office, Governor Fubara said power belongs to God, saying He gives it to whoever finds favour in His sight.
“Power belongs to God. So, you see, I like believing that we don’t have any problem. When we get to the bridge, we will cross it. If we can break the bridge, Moses will come and create a road for us. So, you don’t need to worry.
“We will cross the bridge. We will cross it in a way that our enemies will be struggling; they won’t see where we are passing. So, don’t worry”, Governor Fubara noted.
Governor Fubara acknowledged the immense support of Ijaws in Rivers State and urged the Kalabari people to stand with honour in their unalloyed support for his administration.
Concentrating on development related issues, Fubara disclosed that the administration has completed work on the Emohua/Tema Junction Road project,
On health, the Governor also hinted that the government would inaugurate the Degema Zonal Hospital in May.
He said the Health Commissioner has been directed to assess the state of the Abonnema General Hospital for immediate rehabilitation.
Governor Fubara assured that with the Abonnema sandfilling works completed, a phase two project that will include Buguma would commence.
