Governor Hope Uzodinma whose ascension to power was supposed to raise the hope of Imolites is under attack.
The attacks which have been focused on government infrastructure in the State capital has suddenly shifted to the Imo grassroots.
Reports say Oru Local Government Area has tasted the fury of gunmen who are not giving up in their effort to destabilise parts of Eastern Nigeria.
According to information, Uzodinma’s sprawling country home at Omuma, a community in Oru Local Government Area, has come under intense fire from insurgents.
No one can say who the attackers are, but they are suspected to be persons who may be closely associated with pro-Biafran campaigners.
Reports say part of the compound owned by the Governor was set ablaze while two security men who were on duty at the time of the attack may have been killed.
Thus far, there has been no formal reaction either from the police or the State Governor who must be under pressure, following the wave of lawlessness that Imo people are facing.
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB has not spoken directly on the Imo attack, but he took to his Twitter handle to criticize the APC led government.
“They stood with BokoHaram, you elected them. Once in office, they stood with terrorist Fulani herdsmen, yet you re-elected them. Now, they’re pampering Bandits while backing terrorist @DrisaPantami, and all you do is complain. It will soon get worse”, the Biafran warlord stressed.
