Governor Nyesom Wike has revealed how the sum of $50 million was transfered to the coffers of Sahara Energy.
Wike who reacted to the judgment of the Supreme Court told the press that the Amaechi administration had claimed it sold off the state’s energy holdings to Sahara.

He said it was rather strange that the sum of $50 million was later transferred from the purse of the State Government to the company.
He revealed that the payment to Sahara Energy was moved from a state government account in Access Bank.
The Governor noted that the judgment of the Supreme Court has vindicated the Rivers State Government which set up a panel into some of the activities of the previous administration.

Rivers people, the State Governor stated, are to decide whether the former Governor of the Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi and his cohorts will be tried or not by a competent court of jurisdiction for salting away funds belonging to Rivers people.
Governor Nyesom Wike said while reacting to the decision of the Supreme Court in Abuja on Friday that as governor he cannot take such a decision alone.
Wike said the ruling has vindicated the State Government, following findings made by a panel of inquiry which indicted Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
Also speaking, an elder of the State and one-time President of the NBA, O.C.J Okocha said Rivers people would at the appropriate time take a definitive position on what to do.
But he urged the Nigerian press to provide an accurate account of what has transpired, saying most of the time, persons who collude with others to rape the common wealth of the people often issue fake denials in public.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly in his remarks lauded the Governor for winning another major victory at the Supreme Court.
He said the courts have proved, long after acts of injustice were committed, that justice would always triumph.
